On Tuesday, December 4, about a hundred owners of vehicles with foreign registration met with the acting head of Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Yaroslav Halas. The attendees wanted to know the fate of the appeal to the President of Ukraine regarding amendments to the law on legalization of cars with foreign registration, which was sent to the Head of State by the head of the region Hennadiy Moskal.
– According to our information, the appeal is now being reviewed by the legal department of the Presidential Administration, – Yaroslav Halas said.
During the meeting, both parties came to the common opinion that the failure to resolve the issue of cars with foreign registration could lead to collapse at the border during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Because in mid-December, a huge number of Ukrainians (those are hundreds of thousands of people) will start returning home from abroad to celebrate holidays with their families. And a significant portion of them will be traveling by cars with foreign registration through international border crossing points located in Transcarpathia.
The acting had of the regional state administration stressed that the high-profile issue is constantly under the control of the regional leadership. A meeting with representatives of the Transcarpathian Customs, the Main Office of the National Police and the chiefs of the border guard detachment will be held soon to find a way to prevent the collapse at the border during the holiday season.
However, it is still up to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to resolving the problem of customs clearance of cars with foreign registration.
