"Embroidered miracle" is the title of the exhibition, which was opened on August 22 in several halls of the Transcarpathian Regional Art Museum. The museum timed the exhibition to the Independence Day of Ukraine, and presented about 100 works from its own funds, some were provided by collectors, the rest are artists’ own works. Most of the works are exhibited for the first time.
It is one of the most interesting displays of 2019. It features decorative vases of Endre Hidi, a wooden sculpture of Vasyl Svyda, embroidered shirts from the early 1950’s. The vast majority of works are paintings, from the 1930s to the present time, by artists of different generations. In addition to the above mentioned masters, there are works by F. Manaylo, V. Mykyta, Yu. Hertz, V. Prikhodko, E. and M. Medvetsky, Ye. Kremnitska. The exhibition also features abstract works (F. Seman, T. Usik, B. Kuzma, V. Pavlyshyn, N. Ponomarenko, O. Kondratyuk, I. Lutsenko, I. and L. Brovdi, V. Gabda and his “Transcarpathian Madonna"). The works depict Transcarpathian traditions – wedding, religious, song, folk clothing and crafts, flowers (paintings by Y. Bodnar, V. Manaylo-Prikhodko, L. Korzh-Radko, A. Synytar, M. Romanyshyn, T Danylych, R. Pylyp, F. Erfan, L. Haidu, Yu. Shelevitsky, P. Svalyavchyk, Y. Stashko, E. Prykhodko). O. Dolgosh used old family photos, V. Kuzma traditionally presented painting on glass, M. Belen – sketches to a relief.
The exhibition will run until September 18.
