“Excursions to Uzhgorod” are now in the book

On Tuesday, in the Transcarpathian Local Lore Museum in Uzhgorod, there was the presentation of the book "Excursions to Uzhgorod", which was published under the Program for the development of tourism and resorts of Transcarpathian region for 2016-2020.

The author of the idea and part of the text, the head of the author’s team (17 people), the scientific editor of the book is Professor Roman Ofitsynsky. He, in particular, told our publication: "Five years ago. open tours of the city were launched in Uzhgorod. During the two autumn seasons of 2013 and 2014, the staff of the Department of History of Ukraine of UzhNU, which I head, offered lovers of the city’s history about two dozen topics. Therefore, we decided to ​​illustrate their texts and publish them as an educational publication on historical excursion studies."  

The head of the regional organization of the National Union of Local History of Ukraine Mykhailo Delegan notes that this publication is unique in that it gives the opportunity to deepen the knowledge of the land, and on the other hand it contains information for those, who want to know about Transcarpathia more. This is an example for the whole of Ukraine, there has been no such publication before.   

The book contains 25 illustrated excursions grouped into five sections. Those are Uzhgorod medieval, early modern, Czechoslovak, Soviet, Ukrainian periods, multicultural, musical, geopolitical Uzhgorod, etc. And also Protestant, Jewish, Greek Catholic, Orthodox, Roman Catholic Uzhgorod. The interest in Uzhgorod is inexhaustible, the publishers say.

The publication has received a lot of attention, and therefore, Mr Offitsynsky says, they are already thinking about "Excursions to Transcarpathia".
