The smallest wooden church in the village of Novoselytsia in Vynogradiv district every year is visited by thousands of tourists. Most of them are our compatriots who come to Transcarpathia on vacation. In 2008, they were able to replace the shingles on the roof with new ones. According to Vynogradiv District Council Chairman Oleg Lyubimov, then the Council won the European grant and the work was done in no time. The only condition set by Europeans concerned the materials – they had to be authentic.
As for the history of the church, the Church of the Assumption in Novoselytsia was erected in 1730’s and now it is the smallest wooden church in Transcarpathia. It belongs to the Potyssa church type with high, sharp-pointed top. The building has small windows and low doors – only 127 centimeters. Besides the iconostasis, mural and several icons, the church had no other decorations. The mural depicts "Judgment", "Prayer" and "Crucifixion". The icons from the original iconostasis are also exhibited in the church.
In 1960 the church became a museum. Church service is held there only once a year.
