European Parliament does not want to simplify the visa regime with Ukraine

The Head of the European Parliament Committee of International Affairs Elmar Brock spoke against the agreement signing at this stage of visa regime simplification between the EU and Ukraine.

‘The European Commission intends to propose a decision on the signing and concluding agreements on simplification of visa regime with Ukraine. It would be wrong if we do it’ – it was said in parliamentarian’s statement that came in RIA Novosti.

According to mass media reports, the Ukrainian side expects that the agreement will be signed on July 23 in Luxembourg.

‘At the moment we continue to feel serious concern about supremacy of law and cases of electoral justice and political persecution in Ukraine’, – said Brock.

He said that any agreement with the current Ukrainian government could become the support for her on the eve of upcoming elections in Ukraine.

‘We also look forward to reports of the European Parliament envoys – Pat Cox and Alexander Kwasniewski," – said Brock. The European Parliament delegated as a supervisory mission for consideration the cassation in the case of ex-Premier of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski and former president of the European Parliament Pat Cox.
