European Local Democracy Week is taking place in Transcarpathia

The Acting Chairman of the Regional Council Vasyl Brenzovych issued the order "On organization of the European Local Democracy Week."

"To conduct in the region from 13 to 19 of October, 2014 the European Local Democracy Week to explain the Ukraine Association Agreement with the European Union and the Concept of reforming of local government and territorial organization of power in Ukraine. To recommend local governments to promote activities in the framework of the European Local Democracy Week in order to familiarize the population, especially young people, with activities of village, town and city councils, district and regional councils," – the order states.

Thus, it is planned to organize and hold in the regional, city and district councils, state administration and city executive committees open days for university students, secondary school students of the region, representatives of NGOs and the media on issues of local democracy and local government reform in Ukraine, human rights protection at the local level.

In addition, there will be the meeting of the regional council and administration management with foreign partners to discuss the state of cross-border cooperation projects in 2014 and prospects for cooperation in 2015. At the end of the week, within the European Local Democracy Week, there will also be the regional seminar to present the third phase of the joint EU / UNDP Project "Local Development Oriented on Community."
