Euro 2012 football fans did not violate border crossing rules

Foreigners did not carry banned items and had no problems with documents. Moreover, they said that they were extremely pleased with the level of service at the checkpoints and thanked the border guards. This was announced during a press conference in the press center ‘Zakarpattia’ said a head of Chop border control border Pavlo Shvartsman.

However, the border lived his own life, and there were recorded the facts of smuggle, ammunition and drugs. At the same time almost 380 000 tourists crossed the border during the championship which was held in June. This is up to 17 000 more than for the same period of last year. Maximum number of fans – up to 75% – crossed the border crossing ‘Tisa’. Most of them were representatives of Italy, Austria and Germany. By the way, 10 teams that participated in the championship came to Ukraine through checkpoint ‘Tisa’.

‘In general, Chop squad subdivisions fulfilled thier task on the assessment ‘good’. There were no accumulated vehicles and queues. There were no complaints at the personnel units of squad. Particular attention was paid to security of citizens’, – said Pavlo Shvartsman. According to him, not only tourists were satisfied with the border guards’ work, but also management of units: some employees even got awards.

Border guards also play football. According to the head of press service of the Chop border Roman Pavlenko, from time to time a team of border guards took prizes. Even these days the championship of the State Border Service of mini-football is held in Chernivtsi, where the Chop border guard players will try to prove that they are the best.
