Enrollment of the embroidery studio “Kosytsia” opened in the Skansen

Uzhgorod Skansen has good news for those who want to have an authentic Transcarpathian embroidered shirt and to learn the ancient techniques of embroidery using appropriate symbols.

The enrollment to the embroidery studio to teach people the basics of embroidery art of Transcarpathia has been announced.

The museum studio is gathering a group of embroidery fans, regardless of age and gender, who want to make shirts similar to those worn by their grandparents, great-grandparents. CraftswomaTetyana Kohutych (graduate of Yuriy Melnychuk courses at the Ivan Honchar Museum) will be teaching all the techniques that were characteristic for Transcarpathia embroidery. Each session will be accompanied with demonstration of models of folk clothes from the fund collection of the museum and a lecture on features of traditional folk costumes of our region.

The end result of the lessons should be each participant’s finished product (shirt) and the exhibition or show of self-made authentic shirts. We believe that it is much nicer to wear a shirt made with your own hands and embroidered not with magazine designs, but with ornaments that have been passed from generation to generation, carrying the good energy and great guarding power.

So we invite everyone to enroll in the studio. The enrollment will last until the end of Fabruary, and classes will begin already in early spring (at intervals of about two weeks).

Information and registration by phone (066) 71-81-334, e-mail – uzghorodskansen@ukr.net and on Facebook page of the museum.
