The new e-ticket system was developed by PrivatBank and Mastercard.
On January 13, the Deputy Mayor Igor Fartushok announced the introduction of an electronic ticket in public transport at the briefing on damaged "Electrons".
The system will be introduced in the beginning of February – additional devices, software will be installed in the buses, a system for ticketless ride control will be introduced, etc.
It is expected that the new technology will allow residents and guests of Uzhgorod to pay their fair in any convenient way – with cards, smartphones (through Google Pay or Apple Pay), through a bank application or with a one-time QR ticket. QR-ticket printing service, by the way, is already available at PrivatBank’s POS terminals in most Uzhgorod outlets. Passengers will also be able to buy a ticket from drivers.
The implementation of the automated system will allow to build an open model of passenger transportation in urban transport. Residents of the city will not need to get additional cards or buy tickets at special terminals, Petro Krumkhanzl said.
Another positive thing is that the e-ticket system will not be a burden on the city budget. On the other hand, thanks to its openness and transparency, a single electronic ticket will allow the authorities to allocate money more rationally, for example, for the payment of fares for privileged categories of citizens.
