In spite of cold weather and night frosts, cherry trees in Transcarpathia bear fruits two weeks earlier than usual, the Mukachevo.net reported.
– These are the first berries, – seller at the central market in Mukachevo fills up a glass of small cherries. – We have been selling them for two days now, there is no shortage of customers, because everyone wants to try these berries. Today one bundle of 10-15 berries costs 15 hryvnias, and a glass of cherries is 45. But if you want big, fragrant sweet cherries, you have to wait for sunny warm weather.
The first in the season cherries are brought to the markets of Mukachevo and Uzhgorod from Vynogradiv and Irshava districts. The price of early cherries is quite high: wholesalers sell at 135 UAH per kilogram, retailers – at three times as much.
