Dyakovo border guards will be prosecuted for permitting to carry “oat flakes” across the border

On January 3, 2018, the Prosecutor’s Office of Transcarpathian region registered in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations and launched a pre-trial investigation in a criminal proceeding against officials of the customs post "Dyakovo" of the Transcarpathian Customs Office.

Employees of the customs post are charged with the commission of a crime under Article 364 (2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceeding was started over transportation across the state border of Ukraine and further detention by customs officers of Romania at the checkpoint "Halmeu-Dyakovo" of a truck with a foreign registration on suspicion of the transportation of tobacco products using cover goods.

In particular, it was found out that the vehicle with Serbian registration was transporting the cargo of "oat flakes" from the Russian Federation to Serbia and was cleared by customs officers of the customs post "Dyakovo" of the Transcarpathian Customs Office without customs control.

Subsequently, as a result of the in-depth inspection of the cargo, Romanian customs officials found instead of flakes tobacco products "Marble" and "Ashima" in total amount of more than 450 boxes.
