During two weeks, Transcarpathian police arrested 118 drunk drivers

Last weekend, in Irshava district alone, the police caught 8 drunk drivers.

Since November 7, the nationwide campaign for the road safety has been taking place in the region. The police have been paying particularly close attention to drunken drivers.

During that time, 118 Transcarpathians have been caught for driving under the influence. For example, last weekend, in Irshava district alone, officers of the police rapid response teams stopped 8 drunk drivers. In Uzhgorod, patrol polce stopped 4 such drivers, another 2 – in Mukachevo.

The nationwide campaign for the road safety continues. Recall that the penalty for driving while being intoxicated (Art.130 of the CAO) is 10,200 UAH with deprivation of driver’s license for one year. For a repeated offence – 20,400 UAH and deprivation of driver’s license for 3 years.

If a driver gets caught twice within a year, the penalty will be 40,800 UAH and deprivation of driver’s license for 10 years. 

So, do not try your luck and do not drive while being drunk. Remember that every drunk driver is a potential killer!
