Drug smuggler will be imprisoned for 10 years – the decision of the Court of Appeal

Recently, the Court of Appeal in Transcarpathian region upheld the verdict of Uzhgorod City and District Court dd. November 21, 2012, which convicted 35-year-old organizer of drug smuggling to 10 years in prison and perpetrators of this crime to 9 and 2 years, respectively.

According to the chief prosecutor of the Transcarpathian region Oleksandr Andryshyn, the organizer of the crime was a 35-year-old native of Lviv K., who had been previously twice convicted (for hooliganism and trafficking of persons across borders). The peculiarity of this crime is that he organized drug smuggling while being in the Transcarpathian prison number 9 (he had been arrested for another crime) and gave orders to the performers by phone. In August 2010, two persons of Roma nationality at the order of K. purchased in Hungary almost 16 grams of cocaine. They tried to import this dangerous drug into Ukraine across the border, but the Security Service officers in Transcarpathian region and customs officers stopped them.
