Droplets in the sea of books – learn and wonder

The collection of miniature books in the Transcarpathian Regional Universal Scientific Library includes nearly one thousand editions, the Novyny Zakarpattya wtote.

The bulk of it is comprised of obligatory copies that came from central, national and regional publishers of the Soviet Union. But there are also a lot of gifts given to the library over years.   There are also books by the publisher "Karpaty", including the collection of Dmytro Vakarov. The publishing house "Dnipro" released "Hungarian proverbs" translated by our countryman Yuriy Shkrobynets. There is also a miniature collection of small postcards "Wooden Churches of Transcarpathia."

The librarians are proud of the souvenir replica of Ivan Fedorov’s "Alphabet". This "textbook" is four and a half centuries old! And there is also the edition on Shevchenko, exquisite both outside and inside. The collection is called "I love you so sincerely." It includes autobiographical novel by Varvara Repnina and her letters to Taras.

To orientate in the variety of miniature books in the Transcarpathian library, the publishing house of V.Padyak released the book "Droplets in the sea of books" compiled by M.Badyda and L.Prytulka. According to Lyubov Prytulka, the head of the library collection storage department, this collection is a kind of a planet where there are specific laws of gravity and scale, and it fascinates with ingenuity of artists and printers.
