Do not panic: the power company ask Transcarpathians to understand the necessity of blackouts and gets the switch ready

The "Zakarpattyaoblenergo" asked citizens not to panic over the information about electricity shutdowns

As you know, about a month ago the Ministry of Energy introduced schedules for restriction of electrical energy consumption and schedules for restrictions of electrical power consumption. Now, it has been reported that the Ministry has plans to disconnect households from electricity supply. This information has caused considerable hype among consumers. Some of the complaints go something like this: "We pay for consumed electricity, so why do they limit us? Why should we suffer?" The "Zakarpattyaoblenergo" PJSC provides a comprehensive explanation on this matter.

According to the Ministry of Energy, the introduction of schedules for restriction of electrical energy consumption and schedules for restrictions of electrical power consumption in August of this year did not give the desired effect, so the Ministry has approved the use of schedules for restrictions and emergency shutdown of consumers starting from August 29, 2014. "The shutdowns are applied to households without disconnecting the industry" – the letter of the Ministry of Energy published on the official website of the "Zakarpattyaoblenergo" PJSC – www.energo.uz.ua – states.

The letter also explaines the need to set limits on the power and energy consumption. As you know, now in Ukraine, a state of emergency in the energy sector is introduced, due to the difficult situation with the supply of fuel to power plants. Therefore, the reduction of power consumption, especially during the day, remains a priority and its solution will ensure sustainable operation of unified power system of Ukraine. Given this, all regional energy companies in Ukraine were ordered within a three-day period to develop a set of effective measures to reduce energy consumption on weekdays during September, from 20 to 22 o’clock, in amount of no less than 20% of daily power consumption. "One of the effective measures may be forced restriction of consumers during some hours of the day," – the letter of the Ministry of Energy states.

According to the General Director of the "Zakarpattyaoblenergo" PJSC Victor Petrov, to resolve the problem, schedules for restriction of electrical energy consumption, schedules for restrictions of electrical power consumption and schedules for restrictions and emergency shutdown of consumers are being developed and approved by the Regional State Administration. "Despite all the above, I want to ask people not to panic: it will not be daily blackouts for many hours (as rumors say) – Petrov said. – Electricity will be shutdown only if there is an appropriate order. And even when it is, we plan to implement restrictions so that no settlement would remain disconnected from power for more than 2 hours. Settlements will be alternated, just as it was practiced in the past."

Given all of the above, the "Zakarpattyaoblenergo" PJSC asks consumers to understand the need for the limitation of power and electricity consumption, it’s not a whim of the company, it is a necessity caused by special conditions during the war.

The General Director also reminds that on any issues, that may arise due to the introduction of restrictions, as well as on any other issues, customers can contact the call-center of the "Zakarpattyaoblenergo" PJSC. The call center operates non-stop, the numbers are 0800 50 16 20 or (0312) 61-94-94. Calls to multichannel number 0800 50 16 20 from landline and mobile phones within Ukraine are free for consumers. Calls to the city line in Uzhgorod (0312) 61-94-94 are charged under the current rates of urban or long-distance calls.
