Big Transcarpathian official, director of the Khust branch of "Zakarpathaz" Pavlo Nahirny who is responsible for the death of a 32-year-old resident of Khust Halyna Pryhara and her seven-year daughter Veronica (Halyna’s son, a 9-year-old Petro, and his cousin, a 12-year-old Yana were seriously injured), was taken into custody for the period of investigation.

November 19, the 54-year-old man in his SUV "Mitsubishi Pajero" went into the oncoming lane and at full spped ran into the car "Daewoo" driven by Halyna. The witnesses assure that the driver of the SUV smelled of alcohol (that day he allegedly was seen drunk in a local bar).

The lawyer of the guilty party Petro Nemesh argues that Nahirny was dizzy while driving. Relatives of the Pryhar family worry that the official, who killed Halya and Veronica in the accident, will try to hush up the case and avoid punishment. 

At the meeting on this resonant case in Khust District Court last Saturday, the prosecutor said that after the accident the driver of the SUV ran away from the accident scene, and when he was detained he refused to have his blood checked for alcohol content. Instead, it turned out, Nahirny went to psychiatric hospital where he was diagnosed with stress with a tendency to suicide.

"I can not live after this" – ​​Nahirny said in a choked voice. Lawyers asked not to arrest their client, and send him for sanity examination. Khust residents, who gathered at the courthouse to support the family of the victim in the accident, greeted the decision with applause. However, according to the victim’s husband Victor Pryhara, he saw that after the court meeting Nahirny, instead of the prison, allegedly was taken to psychiatric hospital for examination.
