Diphtheria serum has been delivered to Uzhgorod from neighboring regions

The Regional State Administration keeps a close watch on the situation with the diphtheria outbreak in Uzhgorod. Recall that 15 Indian students were found ill with the dangerous infectious disease. All of them were hospitalized in the regional infectious disease hospital.

Since there were only 8 vials of antitoxin in the region, the deputy head of the regional state administration Oleksiy Hetmanenko instructed the Department of Health to address the issue of providing patients with the necessary drugs.
The Acting Director of the Department Yelizaveta Birov reported that 8 vials of antitoxin had been delivered to Uzhgorod by special transport this morning, October 26. Lviv and Chernivtsi regions gave three vials each, Ivano-Frankivsk region gave two. India purchased 100 vials of antitoxin. The registration of this medicine in Ukraine is currently being checked. If it meets our requirements, it will be delivered by plane to Uzhgorod on October 30. The patients are currently stable and no new cases have been found. The situation is under constant control of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the Department of Health of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration.
