Recently, the popular Internet community "Uzhgorod" wrote about the terrible state of the current main sports facility of the regional center of Transcarpathia.
Obviously, in response to this, the city authorities remembered about sports territory.
They report:
"Uzhgorod City Council is considering how to improve the "Avangard" stadium and developing an appropriate program.
Yesterday, the sports facility was visited by the deputy mayor of Uzhgorod Oleksandr Bilak and Vasyl Homonay and inspected together with the director of the public enterprise "Stadium "Avangard" Yuriy Mandich, the director of the city children’s and youth sports school Anatoliy Kolomoyets, athletics coaches working with children.
Last year, the contract for the use of this sports facility by the football club "Hoverla" expired, so only in the end of May 2017, by the decision of the session of the City Council, the communal enterprise "Stadium "Avangard" was reinstated.
According to the director of the company Yuriy Mandych, many documents for the stadium are missing – technical, legal, land, etc., which, among other things, does not allow investors to be involved. Documents are now being actively developed and this work is to be completed in the summer.
They discussed the first steps that need to be taken to gradually restore the stadium, since it has not been repaired for many years. The city authorities are willing to do everything to bring the stadium into operation and use throughout the year for hosting competitions, football tournaments, trainings."
Well, now "Avangard" is again the property of the community of Uzhgorod, and it’s time to fix it up.
