Detained in Nyzhni Vorota: a resident of Dnipro was carrying half a kilo of opium

Under the procedural control of the Prosecutor’s Office in Transcarpathian region, officers of the Transcarpathian regional police detained a resident of Dnipropetrovsk region who was transporting in a car around 500 grams of what is suspected to be concentrated opium.
The resident of Dnipro was detained on January 11, 2020 at the stationary post "Nyzhni Vorota", while he was leaving Transcarpathian region. It has been established that he purchased the drug in Mukachevo and was carrying it to Dnipropetrovsk region to re-sell it.
The man was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine. With the consent of the procedural prosecutor, he was notified of being suspected of purchase, storage and transportation of a particularly dangerous narcotic drug in a particularly large size (Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The seized narcotic substance was sent for examination.
At the request of the prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office in Transcarpathian region, the investigating judge of the Uzhgorod city and district court took the suspect into custody for 60 days.
In addition, the investigating judge imposed an alternative pre-trial restraint in the form of bail in the amount of UAH 2 million.
Further pre-trial investigation is underway, the press service of the Transcarpathian Prosecutor’s Office reported.
