Uzhgorod.in asked a member of Uzhgorod City Council to comment on Friday and Saturday events. As you know, on Friday, they voted to remove Victor Shchadey from the post of the Secretary of the City Council and, consequently, the Acting Mayor, while 41 deputies voted to appoint the first deputy mayor, the city council deputy Vitaliy Semal to the post. And on Saturday, there appeared the information about the convening of a session on Monday and expulsion of a number of deputies from the faction of the "United Center" for "incoordination of actions in the faction."
Unfortunately, we could not get through to the main participants in the events – Victor Shchadey and Vitaliy Semal. We talked with Vasyl Kruchanytsya – a deputy who took part in the plenary session and is in the "expulsion list". We asked him to comment on the events – first of all the dismissal of Secretary of the City Council. Here’s what he said: "I am an optimist. And I think that the change of the Secretary is for the better. We elected a manager, who has worked in a difficult area – in the housing and utilities sector, with experience and good personal qualities. I think our city has earned such a leader as Vitaliy Semal. Our task as deputies is to help him at work. I think, it is not going to be any worse."
Vasyl Kruchanytsya also told uzhgorod.in, that there is not supposed to be a session on Monday, November 10. Because, he said, the session is not closed, its next plenary meeting is scheduled for Friday, so there is reason to convene a special session.
Well, let’s see how things will develop further – uzhgorod.in will be following the events.
