At about 00.30, Tyachiv police received a report of a car accident in the village of Nyzhnya Apsha, which happened today, May 15. The passerby, who found a man without signs of life, said that the man probably had been hit by a car.
The investigative team found at the scene a dead man with injuries typical of a traffic accident. The police of Tyachiv district immediately started searching for the driver involved in the fatal car accident.
In less than an hour, officers of the patrol police response team found the driver and the car which were invloved in the accident.
It was established that the 26-year-old driver of "KAMAZ" had hit a pedestrian who was walking on the roadway. After the accident, the driver drove on without stopping. The 37-year-old resident of the village of Solotvyno died on the spot.
The driver, a resident of the village of Bedevlya, was detained by the police in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and put in a temporary detention center. The violator was tested, he was sober.
The police have launched an investigation into leaving in danger (Part 3 of Article 135) and violation of traffic safety rules, which led to the death of the victim (Part 2 of Article 286) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The truck was seized and taken to the police impound lot. During the investigation, law enforcement officers will find out all the causes and circumstances of the accident.
