Today Uzhgorod celebrated the International Day of Dance with the open festival of choreographic art "Sakura Dance", the press service of Uzhgorod City Council informs.
The art event began with a solemn procession from Narodna Square to the Transcarpathian Academic Regional Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater. It was led by the ensemble of majorettes (director – Artem Kalinich) and the brass band (director – Honored Artist of Ukraine Ferenc Tomich) of the Uzhgorod Musical College.
34 dance ensembles of Transcarpathia and guests from Lviv region – students of the Truskavets School of Arts – participated in the event.
The highlight of the program was the Ukrainian traditional folk dance of Transcarpathia "Karichka" (staged by People’s Artist of Ukraine Mykhailo Suslikov) performed by ten amateur groups of the region comprised of more than 200 people.
