D. Zador International Piano Competition has started in Uzhgorod (PHOTOS)

Yesterday, in Uzhgorod, young pianists of Transcarpathia, different regions of Ukraine, Slovakia and Germany started competing in the I open competition. The purpose of the contest is to identify young talent and preserve the memory and artistic heritage of the famous Ukrainian composer Dezideriy Zador.

Three dozen musicians will compete in three age categories: 13-15, 15-17 and 17-19 years. They will perform the best examples of classical music, such as works by Bach, Schubert, Beethoven and others. The program also must include works of Ukrainian composers.
 
Today, March 24, with the assistance of the Consulate General of Hungary in Uzhgorod, at 18.30, the concert of works by Franz Schubert performed by Balazs Sokolay will take place at the Philharmonic. The admission is free.
You can also come and listen to the contestants’ performances today and tomorrow, March 25, from 10:00, in the Great Hall of Uzhgorod State Musical College.
And on Sunday, March 26, at 12.00, the closing ceremony of the contest and the concert of the winners will begin on the stage of the Transcarpathian Regional Philharmonic.
