Transcarpathian region has long been cooperating with the Czech Republic in various fields. The neighboring state strongly supports and funds various projects in Transcarpathia. Recently, the Czechs decided to help the region solve one of the thorniest problems of the tourist region – disposal of solid waste. It is for this purpose that the working visit to the Czech Republic of the Director of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Yuri Shpontak, the Director of the National Park "Synevyr" Mykola Derbak and the head of the village of Kolochava Vasyl Khudynets took place recently.
The reason for the trip to the Czech Republic was the decision of the board of the Transcarpathian Regional Administration that Tereblya Valley will be a pilot project to install a solid waste sorting line in Transcarpathia.
"We have long been looking for effective ways to address the problem of waste disposal without harming the environment – the Director of the National Park "Synevyr" Mykola Derbak says. – Czech cities Hlyboka and Český Krumlov, located within the National Park "Šumava" have the best experience. We visited those cities, saw their technology. In Brno we visited the plant where waste from all of Moravia is incinerated."
"In the Czech Republic we have held talks with potential investors to install a sorting line for solid waste in the National Park "Synevyr" – Vasyl Khudynets, the head of Kolochava village, which is located within the National Park, continues. – Czech investors are ready to develop and run a sorting line in Tereblya Valley within the National Park "Synevyr." Domestic waste will be sorted and part of it will be used as fuel. And plastic and glass will be taken for recycling at special plants."
During the trip, the delegation also visited the Czech national park "Sumava" – the largest Czech park, which is protected by UNESCO. The Director of the National Park "Synevyr" Mykola Derbak presented the Sumava national park the project of cooperation agreements between conservation agencies, which will be signed in the near future.
