Today in Uzhgorod, there was a round table discussion on "The Czechs in Ukraine: the preservation of cultural and historical heritage with Transcarpathian region as an example." For a few hours at the regional center of culture of national minorities, Transcarpathian experts and representatives of Slovakia and the Czech Republic spoke about the possibilities of preservation and revival of heritage from the Czechoslovak period of Transcarpathia – Zakarpattya online informed.
They talked about the musical culture of the Czech Republic in Ukraine, the Czech traces in Subcarpathian Rus’, the development of education in Transcarpathia under Czechoslovakia. Professor Mykola Mushinka delivered the report on Florian Zapletal and his contribution to the study of history and culture of Transcarpathia.
At the end of the event, the activists of the preservation of cultural and historical heritage handed the Consul of the General Consulate of the Czech Republic in Lviv Valeria Fyuleova the photo depicting Narodna square in different periods, as well as the photo of the project according to which they are going to reconstruct it. The activists told the Consul that the square belongs to the heritage of Czechoslovak period, is an architectural monument, however, despite its protected status, they still try to deface Narodna Square with reconstruction. Eyewitnesses say that the diplomat did not like the design.
Valeria Fyuleova took the photos and said that in this situation the activists are free to apply with the appropriate open letter to the Consul General of the Czech Republic in Lviv – the edition informs.
This will be done soon. Also Transcarpathians invited guests to walk the city and see the square.
