Czechs and Slovaks want to have consulates in Transcarpathia

During the press conference on April 17, representatives of the Embassies of the Slovak and Czech Republics stated that more consulates may soon be opened in the region.

– The opening of the Honorary Consulate in Velyky Berezny will promote the improvement of the situation on the border. It is the north of our common border, so we want to work there. I hope that this will help to increase the level of cooperation between Ukraine and Slovakia – the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Ukraine Marek Shafin said.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Ukraine John Počuch also mentioned the possibility of opening the consulate in Uzhgorod

We would like to open more consulates general. Because it is difficult to cover the whole vast territory of Ukraine from Kyiv. You know that we have a Consulate General in Lviv. We intend to establish an honorary consulate here. We have already chosen our candidate and submitted our request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We hope for a quick response to our initiative.
