“Czechoslovak World in the Carpathians” was presented in Uzhgorod

The Scientific Library of the Uzhgorod National University and the Consulate General of the Slovak Republic in Uzhgorod today hosted the presentation of the book by Vladimir Kustek "Czechoslovak World in the Carpathians".

The book came out on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia, and Transcarpathia, as it is known, was a part of it from 1919 to 1939.
According to those, who have already read the publication, it is a kind of "museum in a book", because it includes more than 500 photographs and artifacts of that period. The author Vladimir Kustek, a native of the Czech city of Hodonin, told about the work on the book, in particular, how he worked with archives, old chronicles, periodicals, recorded stories of individuals and families, representatives of different professions.

The presentation was attended by the Consul General of the Slovak Republic in Uzhgorod, Miroslav Mojzita, the acting mayor, deputy mayor of Uzhgorod Oleksandr Bilak, pro-rector on scientific and pedagogical work of Uzhgorod National University Miroslava Lendyel, adviser of the Directorate of the National Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of Ukraine Svitlana Mitryaeva, associate professor of the Department of Modern History of Ukraine and Foreign Countries Igor Shnitser, Associate Professor of the Department of Antiquity, Middle Ages and the history of Ukraine before the modern age Igor Likhtey.

The book contains texts in Czech, Slovak and Rusyn languages. The author has already announced the release of the second part of the publication.
