Two cycling patrol crews will be ensuring order in Uzhgorod. Today, four bicycles were handed to patrol police officers by the Mayor of Uzhgorod Bogdan Andriyiv.
The acting chief of the patrol police in the cities of Uzhgorod and Mukachevo, Serhiy Melnyk said that bicycle patrolling in the regional center will cover pedestrian zones, embankments, the Bozdosh Park – ie large areas that are not easily accessible by cars.
Bicycles will be used by officers who have taken special training. As planned, it will be 2 groups each consisting of two officers – a man and a woman. Now, the bicycles are being modified to fit the requirements of the police, and soon bicycle patrols will be seen on the streets.
