Thanks to this, in particular, the architectural monument – wine cellar "Owl’s Nest" – was restored in Uzhgorod. Under a large-scale cross-border project with Krosno, all students in our city (about 15,000) undergo health examinations and all schools were equipped with medical offices.
During the implementation of another project under the cross-border cooperation program, together with the Polish city of Rzeszow and the Belarusian city of Pinsk, a bicycle infrastructure will be established in Uzhgorod, the concept of sustainable urban mobility will be developed.
A project to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of Uzhgorod and Krosno is also being implemented. It is aimed primarily at young people who will be taught directing, animation, screenwriting, and film promotion.
A project with Rzeszów is being developed for young people, doctors and scientists.
The guests were interested in the activities of national minorities’ cultural societies in Uzhgorod, the Sunday school, where children study the language and culture of Poland, learned about teaching Polish at UzhNU, the cooperation of our university with universities in this neighboring country.
However, it was noted that the pandemic factor brings a lot of uncertainty to matters of cooperation and project implementation, as it is currently difficult to say whether even the traditional Neighborliness Day will take place.
