Customs officers seized 2 cars from foreigners because of forged documents

Yesterday, at the customs posts "Solotvyno" and "Dyakovo", customs officers seized vehicles from a citizen of Hungary and a citizen of Romania. The reason for these actions of the Transcarpathian customs officers was the forged letters of authorization for the right to use vehicles.

In one case, a European traveling to Ukraine in private affairs arrived at the customs post "Dyakovo" by a car a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and submitted documents for the vehicle for inspection. Those were a certificate of registration for the vehicle and a letter of authorization for the right to use the vehicle issued by the owner of the car and certified by a stamp and signature of a Polish notary.

The same was done by a Romanian citizen who drove to the customs post "Solotvyno" by a car Volkswagen Golf.

During the customs control, customs officers had doubts about the validility of the letters of authorization for the right to use the vehicles. Thus, it was decided to send the Polish notaries inquiries to establish the validity of the documents. As a result, their official response confirmed that both documents were forged.

Therefore, the said actions of the foreigners are an offense classified under Part 1 of Art. 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine, and the relevant reports were drawn up. The cars "Mercedes-Benz Sprinter" worth almost UAH 157 thousand and "Volkswagen Golf" worth almost UAH 47 thousand were seized.
