This weekend Chop customs officers drew up a protocol on violation of customs regulations for smuggling into Ukraine a large consignment of undeclared branded items worth more than 6 million hryvnias.
Thanks to the operational information provided by the Special division of Security Service of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region, Chop customs officials along with the border guards conducted a thorough inspection of the truck, during which they found undeclared branded clothes and shoes, hidden among postal parcels.
According to shipping documents, presented to customs officers by the driver at the checkpoint "Uzhgorod" (Ukrainian-Slovak border), the truck was carrying 24 pallets of international mail from Kosice (Slovakia) to Kyiv.
However, when officers of the service for fighting smuggling and customs regulations of the Chop customs unloaded the cargo from the vehicle, they found among the declared goods "extra" 360 boxes of clothing, shoes and perfume of famous brands: «Prada», «Salvatore», «Gino Rossi», «Nike», «Aldo Brue», «Altuzare», «Lord Piano», «Dior» and «Dolce & Gabbana» of 4400 kg total weight.
According to the commodity expert and appraiser, the value of undeclared goods amounts to 6,116,392 UAH.
According to the customs officers, the dealers wanted to avoid the payment of all required customs fees and charges at the border and save a million and a half hryvnias.
