Customs office declared war against owners of the cars with foreign registration

The State Fiscal Service is going to deal with cars with foreign registration, the Autocenter informs. This was announced by the COO of the Wiseman Rose LLP Serhiy Kreimer.

According to him, the State Fiscal Service already is preparing lists of all cars imported in transit or temporary importation mode into Ukraine since January 1, 2007. The cars, that have violated customs regime by more than 48 hours, will be put on the wanted list. Starting November 1, cars with foreign license plates will be put on wanted list automatically. Officers of the SFS also plan to patrol the streets together with the police. It will be easier to detect offending vehicles in this way.

For additional inspections, the customs office intends to send queries to the countries of vehicle registration. Also, probable fictitious legal persons from Lithuania and Bulgaria were found. 2000 to 3000 vehicles are registered for them. Violators face liability according to Art. 485 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. It provides for a penalty in amount of 300% of the fees imposed, that is 8500 UAH. In case of non-payment of fines within 5 days, the car will be arrested.  Special attention will be paid to cars with foreign license plates, which are used for commercial purposes. If a person has imported several cars and has not performed customs clearing, he or she faces criminal liability. Recall that residents of Ukraine (citizens or registered aliens) are entitled to import a car in transit mode for up to 10 days. Non-residents are allowed to temporarily import cars for one year. But within 60 days, the vehicle must be registered with the police.
