Criminal case was raised against the customs officers for the ‘green corridor’ smuggling

The Transcarpathian region Prosecutor’s Office filed the criminal proceedings in connection with the abuse of official position by the Chop checkpoint ‘Luzhanka’ customs officers (Part 3, Article 364 Criminal Code  of Ukraine) on May 23 – informed the Prosecutor of the Department Supervising after the Security Service bodies, State Customs Service, State Border Service while taking hordes, inquiries and preliminary investigation by the Transcarpathian Prosecutor’s Office Alexandr Vasylenko.

It was established that customs officers abusing their official position, acting on behalf of a third party, missed by the ‘green corridor’ lane the car ‘AUDI 100’ at the international checkpoint ‘Luzhanka’, that is the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, on May 11. In doing so they deliberately did not conduct the customs control and inspection of goods that were moved in the mentioned car.

A large amount of goods, which the driver was carrying from Hungary with all the necessary customs duties payment avoidance were revealed by the customs officers of the Chop Customs guard during its re-examination when the foreign car left the customs control zone in a few minutes later. There were almost 500 of cleaning and cosmetic products with a total value of over 41 375 hryvnia in the ‘AUDI 100’ cabin.

Thus, with the intentional customs officials acts of the Chop customs office ‘Luzhanka’, provided an opportunity for the driver to move goods with a total value of over 41,375 hryvnia across the state border of Ukraine, without any mandatory customs payments in excess of 11,502 hryvnia, that in its turn caused the undermining State Customs Service of Ukraine bodies authority – informs the press service of the Transcarpathian regional Prosecutor’s office.
