COVID-19 outbreak in an Uzhgorod supermarket: criminal proceedings have been opened

Yesterday, May 18, many reports were shared online about a coronavirus spread among the workers of one of the supermarkets in Uzhgorod 
According to the press service of the Transcarpathian regional prosecutor’s office, in Uzhgorod, prosecutors filed criminal proceedings based on the local media reports about an outbreak of COVID-19 in one of the shopping centers of the regional center. 
"The media reports state that despite the fact that six employees of this establishment were infected, the supermarket continues to work," – the prosecutor’s office said. 
As part of the investigation, law enforcement officers and relevant specialists will check compliance with health rules and regulations for the prevention of infectious diseases in this establishment, as well as measures taken to prevent the spread of infection among store employees and Uzhgorod residents. 
Preliminary legal classification in this proceeding is under Part 1 of Art. 325 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, ie violation of sanitary rules and regulations for the prevention of infectious diseases and mass poisoning. 
"Investigation in this case is being carried out by the Uzhgorod Police Department. Prosecutors of the Uzhgorod local prosecutor’s office will provide procedural control over the investigation," – the statement reads.
