Control helped to avoid the tragedy – opinion

Over six months, at the production facilities of the region, 13 people have been injured, one person was killed (for the same period in 2012, 31 workers were injured, three were killed). 
The drop in the number of injured and killed was achieved primarily due to enhancing of regular supervisory work at the sites of high risk, the head of the territorial office of the State Committee of Ukraine for Industrial Safety, Labor Protection and Mining Control in Transcarpathian region Mykhailo Savarin believes.

Since the beginning of the year, during inspections of 16 economic entities and 1076 production facilities, state inspectors of the territorial office found 7898 gross violations of laws and administrative regulations on industrial safety.

As of today, thanks to the measures taken, the vast majority of them (85.3%) have been eliminated. 601 officers, including 301 business managers, have been brought to administrative liability in the form fines for committed violations, the materials on 11 entities have been forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.
