Contraband cigarettes brought a Ukrainian to crime

An attempt to move contraband cigarettes through the checkpoint "Uzhgorod" brought a Ukrainian to crime

Recently, investigators, under reports of detectives of the Main Office of the SFS in Transcarpathian region, registered in the Unified register of pre-trial investigations a criminal offense that is classified under Part 1 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

A citizen of Ukraine was illegally transporting counterfeit tobacco products through the customs post "Uzhgorod" of the Transcarpathian customs office with the intent to sell.

In the course of measures to counter illicit trafficking of excisable goods, the operational and investigative staff of the SFS in Transcarpathian region arrived at the customs post and inspected the vehicle "DAF" with a semi-trailer.

In specially equipped recesses, they found 24,170 packs of cigarettes that were prepared for smuggling across the border.

According to preliminary estimates, the approximate value of the excisable goods is 425,000 UAH. The tobacco products were seized and are kept at the Financial Investigation Department of the Main Office of the SFS in Transcarpathian region.
