The week is going to be busy for those seeking education, self-development and interestiong meetings. As was previously reported, on Thursday, March 23, photographer, the founder of the only photofestival in Ukraine "Odesa // Batumi Photo Days" Kateryna Radchenko will come to Uzhgorod with the lecture "Trends in contemporary photography and historical parallels."
On Saturday, March 25, in Uzhgorod, there will be a lecture of artist, designer and publisher Rostislav Luzhetsky on the impact of totalitarian heritage on Ukrainian monuments. The Revolution of Dignity and the war in eastern Ukraine have become catalysts of de-communisation processes, presented Ukrainians with a philosophical choice, the necessity of rethinking the heritage of the totalitarian era. Monuments and commemoration forms, that the society chooses, tolerates or not tolerates, are extremely revealing in this context.
Does society become free after the fall of totalitarianism, what do Ukrainian monuments tell about and how are we affected by the memorial heritage of the totalitarian era? This will be discussed at the lecture of artist, designer and publisher Rostislav Luzhetsky.
Rostislav Luzhetsky’s lecture will be held within the art festival "March Cats", in partnership with the publishing house "Komora."
Rostislav Luzhetsky is an artist, designer, publisher. He was born in 1970 in Lviv. In 1993 he graduated from the Lviv Academy of Arts, in 2003 the Institute of Film and Television. He is the author of numerous design projects for Ukrainian and foreign publishing houses ("Komora", "KSD", "FACT", "Yaroslaviv Val", AmazonCrossing (USA), Wereldbibliotheek (Amsterdam), "ART" (Bucharest), etc. TV channels: STB, 1+1, etc.
