The absence of a toilet at the checkpoint was one of the first problematic issues addressed to Oleksiy Petrov during his appointment as the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration.
Oleksiy Petrov:
"For years, this problem was talked about a lot, people complained about the terrible conditions, which were the first to be seen by travelers entering Ukraine. This is, of course, not how things should be. First, we found a temporary solution to the problem – installed a dry closet. I didn’t think there would be so many obstacles in the process: the tenders were postponed, then there was a problem because the tender for the construction of the toilet was held by the customs and the land belonged to the Fiscal Service. I had to contact the top officials of the Fiscal Service in Kyiv to have the land quickly transferred to the balance sheet of the customs. And finally, today the work has begun. I hope it will be carried out fast and with high quality!"
