Construction in the historic center of Uzhgorod. Are the documents forged?

The Prosecutor’s Office launched criminal proceedings over forgery of documents by Uzhgorod city council officials, which led to the illegal construction in the historic part of Uzhgorod

Uzhgorod City Prosecutor’s Office submitted information to the URPI on the grounds of a criminal offense under Part 1 of Art. 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (forgery) in respect of officials of Uzhgorod city council whose actions led to the illegal construction in the historic part of Uzhgorod, which is part of the architectural ensemble – a monument of architecture and urban planning of local importance "Complex of historic buildings."

The prosecutor’s office found out that the Department of the State Architecture and Urban Planning Ispectorate in Transcarpathian region registered the declaration of the commencement of construction work in the historic part of Uzhgorod to build a three-story facility.

Despite that, the developer performed construction of four floors in the building, and officials of Uzhgorod city council issued the commissioner urban planning conditions and restrictions of building on the land plot for the reconstruction of the facility providing for the construction of a 5-storey building.

The officials ignored the fact that reconstruction is a rebuilding of a commissioned facility.

Thus, the prosecution initiated criminal proceedings over forgery, the preliminary inquiry is entrusted to the investifation department of Uzhgorod city police, the press service of the Prosecutor’s Office in Transcarpathian region reported.
