Recently, in the regional center of Transcarpathia, the park on Babiak Street near the Bozdosh bridge has disappeared – almost all greenery has been cut off.
As detailed on the corruptua.org, in November 2007, deputies of the 2006-2010 tenure led by Serhiy Ratushnyak rented out part of the park – 400 square meters – for 10 years to the "Fora-1" Ltd. for the construction of a shopping center. This company, at the time of journalist investigation, was registered in one of the residential buildings of Uzhgorod.
For nine years, no work was being performed on the land, trees were growing there. And recently, just one and a half year before the end of the lease, preparatory work for construction began on the land. Currently, a warning fence has already appeared at the site.
As the Deputy Mayor of Uzhgorod Oleksandr Gabor informed a correspondent of the "Know!" in response to the information request, the trees were cut by the tenant of the land – "Fora-1" Ltd. Uzhgorod city council gave approval for this. 39 trees and bushes were cut off. The tenant paid to the city budget "replacement cost" for the cut trees – 23,175 UAH.
At the meeting of November 9, 2015, deputies of the city council chaired by the Mayor Victor Pogorelov allowed to change the purpose of another part of the park.
