In the city council, during the check on the abolition of the autumn holidays, which was initiated by the Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights Valeriya Lutkovska, they said that the decision was based on the recommendation of the RSA and… appeals of Uzhgorod school principals. According to the head of the Department of Education of the City Council of Uzhgorod Oksana Babunych, the decision to move the school holidays was taken at an extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee of Uzhgorod City Council on 25.10.2013 at the request of school principals and the order of the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration dd. 25.10.2013 № 366, which was of a recommendatory nature.
"Given the publicity of the decision, we conducted a survey of parents of students on adjourning of the holidays. Based on its results (64% of parents agreed to it) and the recommendations of doctors, on October 30, 2013, at the meeting of Uzhgorod City Executive Council, the decision to postpone the autumn holidays to winter was confirmed.
From 28 to 30 of October 2013, we monitored student attendance in educational institutions of the city of Uzhgorod. In particular, out of 13569 Uzhgorod pupils, on 10.28.2013, 1720 students were absent on the lessons (12.7%), which is within normal limits. October 29, 2325 the students did not attend classes, including 313 without good reason. The increased number of absent students is associated with incidence of diseases among schoolchildren. Several hundred students missed classes according to the statements of the parents,"- the Department of Education of Uzhgorod reported.
