“Cinema is also a war for Ukraine!” Uzhgorod was the first to see “Red” (PHOTOS)

The fight for Ukraine continues not only on the front and in everyday life, like, for example, in the fight against corruption, but also in art – on the pages of books and screens. So believe the creators of the film "Red", a film about the struggle for freedom, a film that confirms the revival of Ukrainian cinema.

Yesterday evening, on August 4, the pre-release screening of the Ukrainian film "Red" took place in the Uzhgorod cinema "5th element". The main slogan of the film is "The Ongoing Struggle."

The events take place in 1947. It is the story of a soldier of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, Danylo Chervony, who is imprisoned in one of the Stalin concentration camp, where he faces inhumane conditions of hard labor, persecution by criminal leaders. However, the brave patriot resists the repression of the camp chief and starts the uprising.

Before the screening, the film cast and crew met with the audience. The director Zaza Buadze, the scriptwriter Andriy Kokotyukha and actor Oleksandr Mavrits told about the shooting that took place in Kryvyi Rih.   

After the screening, Uzhgorod residents shared their impressions with the cast and crew. Despite the late hour, the audience enthusiastically discussed the most interesting plot points, acting. They noted the talent of Oleksandr Mavrits, the leading actor of the Transcarpathian Regional Academic Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater, who played the role of the chief of the concentration camp Major Abramov, that the prisoners rise against.

The official premiere of the film "Red" will take place in the cinemas on August 24, on the Independence Day of Ukraine. The director of the film, Zaza Buadze told about the importance of the synergy of the film crew and the audience, because, he said, the war has not stopped since the times depicted in the film, so Ukrainians should defend their position on the screens too. Therefore, the slogan is "The Ongoing Struggle".
