Viktoriya Frolova, the head of the culture department of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, suggested a very original idea to be implemented at the Castle Hill in Uzhgorod.
She believes that a toll booth with a barrier will fit perfectly near the entrance to the Uzhgorod castle in front of the old bridge leading to the walls.
The purpose of this innovation remains a mystery, because there already are a ticket office and guards at the entrance to the Transcarpathian Local Lore Museum. And they do not obstruct the panorama of the castle or, say, photographing near it and, most importantly, the comfort of visitors.
Nevertheless, the relevant document with this idea was submitted to the Uzhgorod City Council. There, it was considered by the Transport Commission. As a result, all members of the commission unanimously rejected the "interesting" idea.
Well, we have no doubt that common sense will also prevail during the consideration at the executive committee, where the idea of a booth with a barrier in front of the castle will be submitted next. But we must note: this idea is still interesting, because in the future it can win in some competition for the most original arrangement of historical places – because you won’t see a barrier in any castle of Europe. Innovation!
We will just add that our innovators promise not just a banal booth, but a booth… stylized for the Middle Ages!
Imagination has no limits! Meanwhile, they say that the idea provides for not just one booth with a barrier, but a whole family of booths on the Castle Hill, which are supposed to suddenly spring up in front of tourist objects. We can only guess what their motives are…
