In mid-November, six weeks before Christmas, the spirit of preparation for the holiday comes to the capital of Austria – Vienna. The holiday spirit is everywhere – in exquisite illumination, which shine even in the daytime (nobody saves electricity), in shop windows, decorated Christmas trees, and of course in Christmas fairs. By the way, the tradition of fairs goes back to 1296: when Albrecht I ordered the traders and artisans to organize the so-called Dezembermarkt, where city residents could buy textiles and food. Now bigger and smaller fairs are arranged in iconic locations – near the famous architectural monuments, on the most famous squares and just on small streets.
The whole city these days turns into a kind of magic box which contains many unexpected surprises. We invite readers of uzhgorod.in to come to Vienna Christmas tale.
