“Christmas in the old village”: Christmas songs from all over Transcarpathia were performed in the skansen (PHOTOS)

Today, on Saturday, January 11, the traditional festival "Christmas in the Old Village" was held at the Regional Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Life.

Authentic carols, customs, Christmas songs were brought there by carolers from all districts of Transcarpathia.

The festival began with a festive worship service in the ancient Shelest church of Archangel Michael, which was attended by the acting head of the Regional State Administration Oleksiy Hetmanenko.

Students from 9 countries welcomed the guests with a Spanish carol. At noon, the festive procession with other carolers marched from Teatralna Square along Uzhgorod central streets to the Skansen, where the grand opening of the event took place.

Representatives of Slovak and Hungarian consulates, cultural figures, heads of structural subdivisions of the regional state administration and local self-government bodies, Uzhgorod residents and guests of the region came to welcome its participants.

The Nativity festival "Christmas in the Old Village" is taking place for the 10th time. On the territory of the museum, during the festival, visitors had a chance to listen to cheerful songs, carols, taste Transcarpathian Christmas dishes, take pictures with carolers, visit the fair-sale of craftsmen’s products. The youngest visitors could also participate in caroling in the museum houses, where friendly hostesses gave them treats and gifts, the press service of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration reported.
