Christmas, Karacsony, Rizdvo, Vianoce, Weihnachten – words which in winter are close to Transcarpathians. In the multi-national region they begin to celebrate the Christmas holiday on December 24. Each family has its own traditions and pecularities of the celebration. Every year Transcarpathian Regional Palace of Children and Youth Creativity "PADIYUN" arranges a holiday program, "Christmas in friends’ languages." In the palace there are four groups of foreign language learning: German, Hungarian, English and Slovak. Children learn there not just the language, but also traditions, culture and peculiarities of foreign countries. So on the eve of the Nativity students prepare presentations on Christmas holidays.
Performances, speeches, songs and poems. In the holiday atmosphere kids tell about countries, whose language they learn. In foreign language in the form of performances they show traditions of celebrating Christmas.
The head of the Hungarian language group Valeria Karvatska, said that every year they have more children willing to learn the language of the neighbouring country, some learn the language because of family ties, and some because they want to open the doors to Europe.
