Chop customs officers did not allow to import over 40 thousand bottles of «Heineken» beer to Uzhgorod

Chop customs officers constantly control a group of goods transported across the customs border of Ukraine in violation of intellectual property rights.

Since the beginning of this year in more than 30 cases, decisions on suspension of customs clearance of goods containing objects of intellectual property rights have been made. In particular, these are TV sets, monitors of known brands: «Philips», «Samsung», «Panasonik», «LG», tools and parts of vehicles: «Bosch», «Fenox», «Harley-Davidson» motorcycles, «Kogel» trailers, «Nivea» remedies for body care.

These products have been exported and imported across the border of Ukraine by economic operators and by citizens. 

Right holders of international brands sent to customs official response, where they authorized the completion of customs clearance of goods that were suspended by inspectors. But owners of «Heineken» cargo, which was processed as the "import", and Nivea, which was processed as humanitarian aid, were obliged to carry goods outside the customs territory of Ukraine.

As the head of the IPR protection sector of Chop customs Oleg Prysyazhniuk said, more than 40,300 bottles of "Heineken" beer of Netherlands production, which were transported in Uzhgorod from Poland, by the decision of the Commercial Court of Transcarpathian region must be removed from the customs territory of Ukraine. The reason is that the right holder for the specified cargo regards import of goods under its trademark as the infringement of its intellectual property rights in our state – said Victoria Senhetovska, spokeswoman of Chop customs office.
