From 25 to 28 of October, the I Open children’s and youth festival-competition of national cultures and folklore "Bright Country" Transcarpathia – 2014 will be held in Uzhgorod.
The NGO "Bright Country", which is the initiator and organizer of the event, has a decade of experience in dance and vocal festivals.
This year, organizers decided to launch a festival in Uzhgorod. Its main purpose is to introduce children from eastern, central and southern regions with rich historical and cultural heritage of Transcarpathia, the unique region that borders with four European countries, where many nationalities co-exist.
About one thousand children from all over Ukraine (Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Lviv, Kyiv, Ternopil, Sumy, Zhytomyr, Transcarpathian regions) have applied for the participation in the first festival. More than half of the participants, will discover Uzhgorod for the first time and will be able to share their creativity with the audience of Transcarpathia.
One of the innovations is the division of the festival into folk and contemporary art competitions, which will take place simultaneously.
Programme of the event:
On Saturday, October 25, there will be the opening day of the event.From 14.30 to 15.15, the concert "Uzhgorod welcomes you" will take place at the main railway station. The participants of the concert will be instrumental ensembles and orchestras, vocalists, that will take part in the festival and welcome other participants arriving to the festival.
From 16.30 to 17.15, there will be the procession and opening ceremony on Teatralna square. At 18.00, anyone will be able to attend theatrical performance and enjoy the spectacular fire show.
October 26 will be a competition day in two competition areas: choreography in the Transcarpathian Regional Palace of Children and Youth "PADIYUN."Vocal and instrumental competition will take place in the Transcarpathian Regional Philharmonic. The beginning is at 11.00.
October 27 will be the day of workshops, excursions, creative meetings of jury an artistic event in the village of Pyjterfolvo, which aims at creative exchange between groups of the village and the festival participants from the eastern regions, working in the genres of folk art and bringing their performances to the festival.

At 10.00, there will be the press conference of the organizing committee summarizing the festival.
From 12.00 to 15.00, on the stage of the Transcarpathian Regional State Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater, there will be a gala concert and awarding of participants.
