Today, on April 24, on the eve of the 34th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, the liquidators of the accident, including about 2,000 Transcarpathians, were honored in the regional center.
Because quarantine is in place in the country, the ceremony near the monument to the Chernobyl victims in the Rotary Park on Druzhba Narodiv Square was uncrowded. The first deputy head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Oleksiy Hetmanenko, the deputy chairman of the Regional Council Petro Hrytsyk, Uzhgorod Mayor Bohdan Andriyiv, the Secretary of Uzhgorod City Council Andriana Sushko, the chairman of the NGO "Chernobyl Union of Ukraine" Yuriy Fushchych, and the director of the Department of Social Welfare of the RSA Mykhailo Petrishka laid baskets with flowers to the monument.
