On May 16-19, 2019 the literary festival "Chendey-fest-2019" took place in Transcarpathia for the first time. The central event was the awarding of the winners of the 2nd All-Ukrainian Ivan Chendey Small Prose Literary Contest. The celebrations took place in the family estate of the writer in Uzhgorod.
The competition was held in two nominations – "Small Prose" and "Chendey Studies". The jury received 279 works from different parts of Ukraine and from abroad.
The jury included: Doctor of Philology Sydir Kiral, daughter of Ivan Chendey, teacher of Ukrainian language and literature Maria Chendey-Treschak, writers Pavlo Volvach, Oleksandr Havrosh, Serhiy Fedaka, journalist and analyst Halyna Plachinda.
Thus, the winners of the 2nd All-Ukrainian Ivan Chendey Small Prose Literary Contest are:

I prize – Bogdana Kovalyuk "Christmas Eve" (Ivano-Frankivsk)
II prize: Zhanna Kuyava "Before Easter" (Kyiv)
Olena Pryhoda "Kids" (Spain)
III prize: Alina Kozachyshyn "I Do Not Care" (Kyiv)
Oleksandr Stusenko "Shadows of This World" (the city of Bar, Vinnytsia region)

In the "Chendey Studies" nomination:
Olga Koziy "Memories of Chendey’s workshop" (Kropivnitsky)
Olga Stasyuk review of Ivan Chendey’s story "Lyska" (Lviv)
The jury also gave special awards to Valentina Halyanova for the work "Life of Others" (Vinnytsia) and Victor Sabaldashov for the story "Homeless" (Mykolayiv).
